Six week art course : Exploring Texture, Light & Expression.

Join us for an inspiring six-week art course exploring a range of expressive techniques. Each week introduces a new medium and subject, designed to build your skills, confidence, and personal style in a relaxed, supportive studio environment. Each session is fully tutored, with step-by-step guidance and demonstrations to help you develop at your own pace and enjoy the creative process.

Course Outline

Week One – Oil Pastel Abstract – Play with colour and movemnent through expressive mark making.

layering and blending to create expressive abstract compositions inspired by colour and movement.

Week Two – Pen & Ink Wash – Capture tone and contrast with line and wash. Learn how to combine loose ink washes with controlled pen work to capture texture and atmosphere.

Week Three – Palette Knife Acrylic Landscape – Sculpt paint and build rich tactile surfaces, creating a vibrant landscape that celebrates texture and spontaneity.

Week Four – Oil Painting Sea Scape – Learn Oil painting techniques to capture light and movement. Build depth with glazes and brushwork.

Week Five – Cornish Art – (Students choice of medium) Drawing inspiration from Cornish Landscape – harbours and coastal texture.

Week Six – Pet Portrait (Students choice of mediam)

& Celebration.

Bring personality to your artwork with a portrait of your favourite animal. Apply techneques from previous weeks to create a lively and characterful piece.

Finish your artwork and join us for a relaxed end-of-course meet and greet. Family and friends are welcome to view the group’s work and celebrate your achievements.

Materials:

All materials are provided by students. A short materials list will be shared before each session so you can bring what you need for that week’s medium.
